Cultural diversity and inclusion generates fascinating and rich conversations as well as offer new learning insights as we explore the role of culture in change management, leadership development , executive coaching and ultimately organizational success.
It can be a daunting challenge to engage and work effectively with today’s clientele; interact effectively with global business partners and organizations or even teach students due to different cultural backgrounds which influences perceptions, interaction styles and expectations.
We would like to invite the Georgetown ITL Network members in a discussion of managing intercultural complexities; highlighting the impact of culture on behaviors, learning and business effectiveness and; exploring some practical strategies to enhance client and training engagement, provide cutting-edge coaching and consultations, and stay up-to-date in our professional world.
This session will focus on self-reflection, interactive discussions and practical learning.
The discussions will be led by Ruihua Dong in partnership with Esther Nyong’o
Ruihua Dong is the lead of the World Bank Group (WBG) Intercultural Program and has been working with the organization for the last 18 years. She has been instrumental in building WBG Intercultural Program, and has helped different levels of WBG leadership and intact teams as well as global country offices with their strategies and initiatives in enhancing staff engagement, inclusion, team collaboration, and business effectiveness. Ruihua has spoken and presented at SIETAR (Society of Intercultural Educational Training and Research) conferences, and has designed and facilitated hundreds of workshops and webinars for thousands of WBG staff members from more than 170 countries. Ruihua is a Georgetown University alumni from School of Linguistics in1989, an original from China, and has been living in the US for 27 years.
Esther Nyong’o is a leadership development specialist who has been with the World Bank Group (WBG) for the last 11 years. Before that she worked at Shell Oil Company and PWC across Africa as HR Specialist supporting these organizations achieve their strategic objectives through various organization effectiveness solutions. In addition to managing the overall development of team leaders at the WBG, her passion and current focus is on integration of Cultural Competence as a critical component of leadership development. Esther is an alumni of Georgetown, OCCL Cohort of 2012. She is also a certified coach through Coaching Training Institute (CTI)
