Health and Wellness Coaching: Moving into 2020 Webinar
1/29/2020 at 12-1pm EST
The field of Health and Wellness Coaching (HWC) has grown exponentially over the past 15 years, leading to a growing body of knowledge supporting the development of a National Board Certification for HWC. Please join the co-directors of the Georgetown University ITL Health and Wellness Program, Petra Platzer and Jen Wood, to learn more about the similarities and differences of HWC and executive coaching, as well as a glimpse into where the field is headed.
Our Co-Presenters are:
Petra Platzer, PhD, PCC, NBC-HWC
Petra is a development-oriented coach, facilitator and systems thinker. As a well-published cancer researcher, Petra focused on identifying markers in signaling pathways leading to dysfunctional organs, resulting in unhealthy systems. In her leadership roles, she recognized this same process between individuals and teams and their impact to the organization. This ignited her passion for working with leaders, teams and systems to co-create the healthy, interdependent signals they need to achieve their desired results. As a professionally certified coach (PCC) and graduate of Georgetown University’s Leadership coaching program, Petra has successfully partnered with numerous clients and colleagues in the healthcare and academic settings to support developing effective leaders, teams, interdisciplinary initiatives and tangible culture changes. Through her leadership and faculty roles in Georgetown University’s Health & Wellness Coaching certification and Virginia’s SYNC programs, Petra emphasizes developing the coach approach and increasing our individual and leadership capacities to transform the health of individuals, teams and their systems. Petra holds a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology and Genetics, is co-inventor on a patent, and has multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals. In 2005, she was named “Woman of the Year – Forward Thinker” by Glamour magazine and Toyota.
Jen Wood, MA, NBC-HWC, ACC
Jen’s career began in education and evolved into corporate Human Resources where she spent nearly 20 years developing, facilitating, and leading development programs and coaching engagements for individuals and teams to improve performance and achieve greater results both professionally and personally. Care for the whole person – mind, body, and spirit was always at the core of her approach. She continually sought ways to integrate health and wellness principles with each of her corporate clients, and found that improving wellbeing led to the most profound shifts in her clients lives. Inspired by the results of her corporate clients, she launched Jen Wood Wellness, a private health and wellness coaching practice based in Northern Virginia. Her coaching programs and workshops are aimed at helping professional women lead with a healthy body and mind. Jen received certifications in health and wellness coaching from Georgetown University and the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. She has several advanced certifications and has completed training in the areas of mindfulness and nutrition, specifically food sensitivity testing, digestive concerns, gut health, and adrenals. Jen received her leadership coaching certification through Georgetown University and is currently pursuing her 200hr Registered Yoga Teacher Training. Jen has a Masters degree in Human Performance from Marymount University and a Bachelors degree in Education from Penn State University.
